Duty Log, Stardate 9901.27

Lt. Jen Lee

This past week has been quite stressful. It seemed to take us forever to get out of the void we were trapped in. All week long, I wracked my brain, trying to come up with *something* to help us get out. But, with each passing day, we lost more and more power. I am sure that I speak for the entire Science department when I say that I am ready to bow down and kiss someone's feet since we don't have to look over that probe's data again. As much as I loathe that data file, and want to delete it, I know I can't. Someday in the future, we just may want to use it again. But please, God, don't make *me* have to read it again!

Of all the possibilities we tried, nothing really seemed to work. We modulated the shields to the EM Band shift we detected. Nothing. Lieutenant Vectra noticed an overall shift between us, and the "real" world, so we tried compensating for that. Again, nothing.

In the midst of all this, a Cardassian shuttlecraft came in through the rift. Bad for them, but good for us. We were able to get a lock on where the rift was. Hey, that may not sound like much, but trust me, it was! We were able to beam the occupants of the shuttle over before their craft blew up, which was a good thing.

Lieutenant Vectra also came up with the final idea on how to get us out. He sent a pulse through the deflector that caused the rift to open. Since we knew where the rift was, and finally opened it, we flew right through. I even came close to crying when I saw stars on the viewscreen again. Ah well, just another week in the life of a deep space vessel, right?
