Professional History

Aboard the Leeuwenhoek, Jen worked as a research assistant to Commander James Jenner. Throughout her three and a half years onboard, she aided Jenner in his studies of the bacteria, Bacillus spectrumlis, a very peculiar microbe. Found as a normal part of the Kurthia Lake on the planet Actin IV, this bacteria has a peculiar color morphing ability, that creates hues of the water in which they live to vacillate among the colors of the visible spectrum. Though it took them quite awhile to get a pure culture, and proper growth medium, Jenner and Lee published many papers on this microbe. It was found that subsequent generations of the bacteria spontaneously changed color. When the bacteria reproduced asexually, the same color would be shown. But, if sexual reproduction via conjugation occurred, the color of the bacteria would shift +10 nm on the visual spectrum. Once the upper limit of visual light was reached, at 800 nm, the bacteria's color would morph back down to 400 nm, the lower end of the visual spectrum. Unfortunately, when the USS Leeuwenhoek was decommissioned, Commander Jenner retired, leaving Jen to begin research of her own on the USS Fleming.

Much of Jen's time on the Fleming was spent cataloging the different bacteria, viruses, fungi, and other microscopic life found near the borders of the beta quadrant. Her superior on the Fleming, Lieutenant Commander Koch, was more of a Physical Scientist, than a Biological Scientist. He was also an abrasive sort of person, and try as she might, Jen never felt comfortable in his nanite research program. She asked for, and received, a transfer to the USS Federation on Stardate 9801.26.

Personal Background

Jen was born on the island of Taiwan, on Earth, to her parents, Richard and Anna Lee. She has three siblings: Scott, 23; Gabriel and Jacqueline, 18. Overall, Jen's family is close. Keeping in contact with her siblings can be difficult, since everyone is spread out all over the galaxy at the moment, but every communication is special to her, and to them.

Richard Lee was born on Taiwan, in the city of Hualien. As a boy, he was fascinated by the birds off the coast, who could dive from the cliffs and soar gracefully through the air. He has always been fascinated by flight, and therefore got a job in the civilian sector as an aeronautic engineer. He met, and married Anna when he was 32 years old, and moved to the city of Kaoshuing where he ultimately raised his family.

Anna is originally from Betazed, where she met Richard while he was on vacation. They had a whirlwind romance, and she married him at the age of 17. Though there is a large age difference between them, you can see the absolute love in her eyes for her husband and children. When asked, she does not like to talk about her life growing up on Betazed. Richard knows all that happened, but won't speak of it. Apparently, it was traumatic enough that they felt it best to never be discussed.

Scott is graduating this semester from Starfleet Acadamy with a degree in Engineering. He too, has developed his father's love of flight, though Scott is more interested in getting the designs his father builds to go faster, and more efficiently. His latest project is attempting to develop a transwarp drive. Though the laws of physics claim that it cannot be done, he wants to prove everyone wrong. (Have I mentioned that the Lee's can be stubborn? ::grins::)

Gabriel and Jacqueline are identical twins. Though many sets of identical twins prefer to be as different from one another as possible, these two enjoy being as alike as possible. They share a strong telepathic link between them, and use it to communicate constantly. They will be beginning Starfleet Acadamy in the fall, and plan on majoring in Psychology.

Jen has always been a quiet person, generally preferring the company of one or two close friends, as opposed to a group of people. She enjoys reading her journals and keeping up to date on the latest discoveries in her field of Science. She feels most comfortable in her quarters, on the couch with a cup of coffee or cocoa, several dozen PADDs, and her cat, Ophelia.

Though not an overly social person, she gets along well with others, and works well with others. She is never afraid to admit she is wrong about something, and does not lie well. Though she has some telepathic abilities through her mother's genes, she does not like to use them, feeling them to be an invasion of other's privacy.
