Personal Log, Ensign Jen Lee
Alternate Universe
Jen wakes up the morning after her delivery of the data chip to Drakken. Vaguely surprised to not be in the brig, Jen correctly surmises that no one has found out about the transfer. With a smile, she gets out of bed relieved it went well, and also because she had a day off. No scrambling for the bumbling idiots she had to answer to.
Even though she had no work to accomplish, Ensigns were not allowed to sleep in, or even stay in the quarters. Therefore, she went to ten forward, where all the Ensigns enjoyed time of being equal. Higher officers rarely if ever entered the lounge, knowing it was the one place that Ensigns ruled.
She entered and sat at her favorite table by a viewport. While sipping her morning pink lemonade (no, not even here, were Ensigns allowed coffee) and eating her breakfast, she felt beneath the table with a free hand. She found a PADD as she had hoped. Most tables had secret places for the storage of PADDs. This was where the Ensigns could leave messages, stories, or other things which were considered to be contraband.
She accessed the data, and was pleasantly surprised to find a story on this PADD. She settled in and began reading. It was one of her favorite settings ... a starship like the Calystremaine, but without the same social structure. Much like her dreams. She became absorbed in this story of a ship called the Federation with its crew that was more of a family than just a working unit.
